The Trademark Comprehensive Skills Contest of the 4th Intellectual Property Industry Vocational Skills Competition, hosted by the Capital Intellectual Property Service Industry Association, recently came to a successful conclusion.Du Hangda, Shi Linglin and Ma Kun, three core professionals from the Legal Department of Beijing Gaowo IP Firm, participated in the competition as representatives. Armed with solid professional expertise, proficient practical capabilities and seamless teamwork, they stood out amid fierce competition and were awarded the Second Prize of the event.
At the award ceremony held on July 24 at Zhongguancun Intellectual Property Mansion in Beijing, Zhou Liquan, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Intellectual Property Administration, personally presented the award to Gaowo’s representatives. This competition focuses on cutting-edge practical difficulties in the IP industry and represents a highly professional and authoritative vocational skills competition for practitioners.The competition consists of two stages: preliminary and semi-final rounds. Centered on authentic and typical industry cases including the inheritance of time-honored brand names, cross-class malicious trademark squatting, irregular trademark use, and identification of token use in non-use cancellation proceedings, the contest sets extremely high standards for participating teams in terms of legal theoretical knowledge, case analysis and judgment, and practical solution implementation, boasting outstanding professionalism and practical applicability.
During the preliminary round on July 5, the three-member Gaowo team leveraged years of hands-on experience accumulated from trademark legal services. Without any reference tools or internet access, they divided tasks to tackle the three contest questions, sorted out legal principles and drafted response solutions.After finishing the first draft, team members conducted mutual reviews covering the application of legal provisions, case defense logic, potential risks and loopholes. They refined the arguments on the core disputed issues, finalized a complete and standardized answer sheet, and submitted it ahead of all other teams.Thanks to their outstanding professional expertise, the Gaowo team stood out impressively among 14 participating teams and successfully qualified for the elite eight finals.
In the final round held on July 16, confronted with on-site inquiries from expert judges, the Gaowo team responded calmly. They delivered an excellent defense with comprehensive and rigorous legal analysis, trademark operation solutions tailored to corporate business scenarios and featuring high implementability, ultimately achieving an outstanding result in the competition.
